Lose reception hooking up rf cable

Diocletian Joined: Aug 9th 2016, 05:24 Total Topics: 0 Total Posts: 0	Hi there I'm just getting started with my new radio.When I hook up the RF cable as soon as I start to screw in the outershied to the radio I lose reception. When just the pin is touching I can receive.I bought a new cable thinking it was shorted.But does the same thing.I have a Kenwood Ts 480.Thank you for any suggestions.

Diocletian Joined: Aug 9th 2016, 05:24 Total Topics: 0 Total Posts: 0	I have it hooked up to a AOR LA 400 loop antenna.Im just using it for reception for a.m till I can afford a tx antenna.With just the coax cable hooked up to the radio I can hear am radio.As soon as I screw in with the outer shield touching it goes out.It only works with center pin.I don't get it radio is brand new.
