Shortening wire antenna

Rather than cut the wire shorter, can I just bend it back and forth a little on itself and tape the overlapping wires together? This would be much simpler during the adjustment phase of he antenna. What is the effect of the overlapping wires? The wire is insulated. Bob W8ERD |
