i have the RT Systems cables for programming my Yaesu HT and mobile radios. They work great with my Win7 desktop, but I've had no luck finding drivers for my laptop which runs SUSE Linux. The El Cheapo cable for my Baofeng radio work great with the laptop but will not work with my FT-60 HT. Any idea what USB-to-serial chipset the RT System cables use?
Is anyone else using Linux with their radios.

Thanks!

Have you tried a utility called CHIRP? It's supposed to be compatible with radios from a number of manufacturers, Yaesu among them.

Are there any online web sites that can walk you through the programming and basic operation of the Yaesu FT-60RE? I am a newly-minted element 2 ham. The operators manual was not too helpful for a novice. Thanks! Stew KEOEHQ
