moble antenna

I have a F350 Ford 4x4 thats kind of tall And have a 7 1/2 foot antenna with a huge load (military) vhf/uhf that i am going to use.also i haul a lot with this truck so the rear bumper is out of the question. back of tool box ortop of cab? question how high can the atenna be and still be safe from hiting things all the time? bridges? how high should it be for the best preformance? If the rear bumper is out of the question, in the bed behind the cab should be the next best place. You can get the overall height and then check with the highway dept to see what the minimum height would have to be for bridges etc. I'd put it on the drivers side, less chance of hitting trees on the right side of the vehicle. Low hanging trees are gong to be a problem, it will be an interesting vehicle, but as long as you are under the perscribed height for bridges and other objects per the state highway dept, you should be fine. 73,s, John |
