I WANT TO CHECK A 6146B BUT ALL THE TESTERS IVE SEEN ONLY CHECK 6146 NO A OR B CAN I JUST CHECK IT WITH THE OUT LETTER??

YES! ok I need more than 5 words.... The numbers 6146 is the type description. The A, B, C are revisions, often the envelope size. There used to be tube substitution books available and the REAL ARRL handbooks have the tube section in the back ....Until they were replaced by party conductors. REMEMBER - Real Radios Glow in the Dark!

That's why I still have some of my old handbooks.
When there is new information or technology they just can't keep adding to the handbook or it would be 6 inches thick.
lots of good information in the old manuals. still kicking my self for selling my 1932? manual.
