How do I remove the "pc" from the RH side of the screen? It's not hooked up to a PC. Could this be the problem that I'm only able to get 50 watts of power out on SSB. all bands? |

The most common problem is a misunderstanding of the meter reading--you need a peak reading wattmeter to see 100 watts on SSB--a typical meter will typically read only 25 to 30 watts on 100 watts of voice SSB. Zack Lau W1VT ARRL Senior Lab Engineer |

One thing to try, when you get into an odd state with modern rigs, is to use the "factory reset" or "reset microprocessor" option. That will erase all your memories and put things into a good initial state. The owner's guide should tell you how to do this. 73 Martin AA6E |

First, it looks like Yahoo won’t be letting many groups work as needed. That’s why I’m posting my first time here. I’ve never posted on ARRL before, so I hope the moderator understands, My Kenwood TS-480 SAT is shutting down and resetting when I try to transmit. I’ve checked the antenna SWR, and all electrical and cable connections. Even did a full reset. Any help or direction is greatly appreciated. |

That radio draws as much as 20.5 amps. Some "20A" supplies may not be able to provide that much current for a CW carrier, though one temporary fix is to reduce power. For example, the Astron RS-20 is rated at 16 amps continuous, not 20A. Zak W1VT |
