Auto transformer for 160m inverted L | v_c_nunn | on 2/1/16 |
I bought one of these many decades ago at a hamfest. It was homebrew, made inside 6" PVC pipe, and had stainless hooks top & bottom for mounting. It also had a UHF (SO-239) connector for connecting coax. I installed it with 135' of wire in an inverted L, approximately half verticle, half horizontal. It worked great on both 160m & 80m, in that I won the ARRL 160 Contest using it back in the 1990's. I also used it on the Geratol Net on 80m, working Alaska! It was totally destroyed, but want to put up a similar antenna. I cannot find any information about making the tapped auto transformer, however. Any help? |
