RTTY Rookie Roundup Aug 21! KX9X on 8/8/11
Hi Folks-

The next installment of the ARRL rookie Roundup will be in RTTY. This is Sunday, August 21 from 1800-2400 UTC. Rookies work anybody, non-rookies work only Rookies. A Rookie is defined as somebody who received their license in 2011, 2010 or 2009. Be sure to get on the air and work the Rookies and encourage them to get on the air and have fun with your favorite mode.

If you're an active RTTY op, please consider opening your doors for a new operator in your club and let them check out RTTY. I've word from N1MM that they will have support for the RR in time for the event (be sure to download the needed updates).

Complete rules can be found at http://www.arrl.org/rookie-roundup. Be sure to read on score submission; we don't need complete logs; just fill out the score summary form found on the RR page within 72 hours and you're all set.

Certificates to all Rookies that enter! Old-Timers will be listed in the results article with a hearty "thanks."

Here's hoping to hear you in the first RTTY Rookie Roundup!

I'm looking forward to this one. See everybody on the air from Pinnacle Rock near Plainfield, CT.

The ethical issue is not the directional CQ. It is what to do when some "helpful" op, who happens to have the DX Cluster open, stops by and tells you the frequency where you can find those needed mults. If you go or otherwise act on that information, you have moved into the single-op assisted category.

Randy is spot-on here. Under this scenario, you have gained information on where a needed multiplier is from a source outside of your own station, which would put you in Assisted.

If you're down to needing only section in SS for a Clean Sweep, and a well-meaning operator tells you where to find them, do you have the intestinal fortitude to ignore that information? It's fine if you don't, but the cost of acting on that information is reclasification to Assisted.

Glad you like the new feature, Jim!

In ARRL contests, Rovers do receive a multiplier credit for every grid they make a QSO from. If you activate 4 grids during your contest rove, your multiplier total goes up by 4.
