ARRL Atlantic Division to Host Field Day Webinar

05/11/2010

Periodically, the ARRL’s Atlantic Division hosts a “webinar” -- an interactive Web-based seminar, designed to facilitate communication between a small number of presenters and a large remote audience using the Internet. On Wednesday, May 19 at 9 PM EDT, Atlantic Division Director Bill Edgar, N3LLR -- along with some “Field Day Experts” -- will present a Field Day-oriented webinar entitled “Making the Most of Field Day.” Moderated by ARRL Regulatory Information Branch Manager and Field Day Manager Dan Henderson, N1ND, the webinar will share information, hints and tips to individuals and groups to maximize their Field Day experience -- not just in terms of points, but in gaining valuable experience and knowledge to help groups and individuals to help maximize their Field Day fun!

Henderson has been responsible for all aspects of ARRL Field Day at ARRL HQ for the past dozen years. He will focus on some of the things that many groups might overlook during Field Day, but should consider implementing. ARRL Emergency Communications and Response Manager Mike Corey, W5MPC, ARRL Media and Public Relations Manager Allen Pitts, W1AGP, and Roland Anders, K3RA, will join Henderson in the webinar. Corey will be sharing some of his experiences about how to successfully engage community leaders and emergency response officials. He will also briefly talk about Field Day site safety. Pitts will present ideas on how to promote your Field Day event with the media. Anders is well known for his QST articles over the years on Field Day. He is instrumental in the very successful Field Day operations of the Potomac Valley Radio Club, W3AO. Anders will be sharing some thoughts and ideas about what it takes to put together a Field Day site effectively -- and maybe sharing a few nuggets about how PVRC has been able to sustain their Field Day “mojo” over the years.

Anyone can register for the webinar; you do not need to reside in the Atlantic Division to join in. Please click here to register for this informative, interactive Internet meeting.
