WRTC-2014 Seeks Volunteer Operators for 2013 Station Test

07/03/2013

The organizers of WRTC-2014 in New England next July are looking for volunteers to operate one of the WRTC test stations the weekend of July 13-14 during the IARU HF World Championship. WRTC-2014 organizers are planning to set up 30 stations to test readiness for the big event next summer. “We are looking for operators willing to visit New England for the weekend and use the WRTC antenna setups,” said WRTC-2014 Co-Chair Randy Thompson, K5ZD, in a news release. “This will provide valuable data for confirming the equality of the sites and provide log data to the competitors that will be attending next year.” This will be the second station test for WRTC-2014. Thompson say event organizers are looking for four or five teams of from one to four people who are willing to bring radios and work the 24 hours of the IARU event. Operators willing to put in a part-time effort also are wanted. The stations will be located along Interstate 495 between Pepperell and Carver, Massachusetts. Interested individuals should contact Tom Frenaye, K1KI, as soon as possible. WRTC-2014 will maintain an updated list of call signs active in the station test. “This is your chance to get a taste of the WRTC operating experience,” Thompson said.
