SM BULLETIN NR 2 MAY 2

    FROM: K1EIC SM CT

TO ALL RADIO AMATEURS CT SECTION ARRL

    BT

Bob Brill, W1GC has been OOC for just about 10 years and has asked me to look for an OO who can take this position. Bob is also extremely active in the Coastguard Auxiliary. He is the person who signs off on radios and assigns frequencies. Bob has been and I know will continue to be amazingly resourceful. He has been a wonderful asset to me and a tremendous advisor. We've always had fun on the phone, even through some tough interference challenges. So a huge thank you to Bob! I bet I'll surprise him one day over at Dutchess Restaurant in W. Haven!

Please welcome Chuck Motes, K1DFS as our new OOC. Chuck professionally is Director of Health in Southington and has been active in many activities of Amateur Radio. Among many other things, he is an active member (treasurer) of ICRC and active in Navy MARS and has done lots of radio work at Farmington Red Cross in the past. Chuck has been an OO since 1992! Welcome aboard Chuck and many thanks for stepping up to the plate and taking on this important role.

    New Section Web Page

Thanks to Web host and PIC Al, KA1TCH, Webmaster ASM Jim KD1YV, ARRL, and Interbridge, we've got it started. Go to http://ct.arrl.org to view the Page. You will still see alerts posted on the Page on the ARRL site; the monthly Section e-letters will still be archived on that site. But the news articles will be posted on our new site. It will all work out; you will be pointed to the right place!

We will have the opportunity to put audio and video on the site. I plan to link all of the club Web Pages and include space for any club that does not have a Page to write something about their group.

And we now have a Web calendar on which those who register can post events! One of the nice features of the calendar is that links are enabled; http links are clickable--we're working on figuring out if email addresses are clickable. Eemail reminders of meetings are enabled! So you can specify that a reminder is sent out automatically to those who are registered on the calendar--perhaps the leadership of your club!

Here's the word from our Webmaster.

    From Webmaster KD1YV:

Comments: The WebCalendar is an interactive calendar to display events of interest to hams in the Connecticut Section of ARRL. When events are posted as public access, they may be viewed by anybody on the World Wide Web. However, they may only be posted by registered users.

Registration is simple - just send me an e-mail with your callsign, name and what organization you represent. Use the link below, or create an e-mail to kd1yv@arrl.net .

A note about abuse -- we are trusting users to not abuse this privilege. If we grant you a user ID, we are assuming that you are responsible enough to not post abusive items. Any indiscretions will be dealt with by deleting your user ID and there will be no recourse for reinstatement. Please be guided accordingly. To register, webmeister1@oneyv.org .
