I hope you had a great Field Day. It's interesting what we experience on Field Day. You find out what's vulnerable, what bands work when you least expect them, what you didn't know about your keyer (like how to reverse the paddles when they accidently have become reversed), what antennas were ideal and what radios worked the best. Did you get good coverage by television, newspaper, and radio? If so, how did you accomplish that? If you are willing to share that, please let me know. n0jl@arrl.org

Emergency Preparedness -
Greetings, The state of Iowa has prepared itself to be the recipient of 10.9 million dollars that will be coming to us through the Public Safety Interoperability Communications (PSIC) Grant program.
We will be disbursing approximately 8 million dollars to support local interoperability projects. We are in the process as a state board, deciding how to best put the grant monies to work for all of us.
We will begin taking applications and they should be submitted through the application process that is attached to this message. John Benson from Iowa Homeland Security and Emergency Management has done a good job of laying out expectations and information as to how you can apply for the monies.
Please read all of the material carefully so you do not exclude your submission by failing to properly submit your application.
The application and guide are attached to this email. They may also be found on the web at http://www.dps.state.ia.us/ISP/Interoperability/index.html.
Respectfully, Chairman Vice-Chair Todd Misel Dina McKenna
