The Hilo Hospital emergency radio was stolen from a car April 29, 2009 in downtown Hilo. It is an ICOM 706 mark II G s# 1513194.
If you have information contact Hawaii County Police at (808)935-3311. The contact officer is officer Z. Pacheco. The case number is C-09012649. If you have information is is much easier if you refer to the case number when contacting the Hilo Police.
Please disseminate this information as widely as possible.
EVENTS:
The Kauai ARC had a ham-swap meet on Saturday, April 11th, followed by a potluck lunch at the Nawiliwili Yacht Club. Your SM attended. KARC wants to make this an annual event.
The Big Island International Hamfest and swap meet will be at the Waimea community center in Waimea (Kamuela) on Saturday September 12, 2009. They changed the month because of the numerous conflicts in October. Stay tuned for the latest update.
The annual Simulated Emergency Test (SET) was Saturday October 18, 2008. The latest word is SET 2009 will be Saturday October 3.
Pacificon 2009 has been moved to May 1, 2 and 3 at Circus Circus in Reno, NV. Your SM was there.

Every Saturday - Kauai Amateur Radio Club Informal Breakfast - 8:00AM Wailua Family Restaurant - 4361 Kuhio Highway in Wailua. They will monitor 146.92 MHz for talk-in to the restaurant.
Every Tuesday 7AM - The Waikiki Amateur Radio Club along with HARC, QCWA Chapter #206 and Battleship Missouri Radio club members meet at the Pearlridge Sizzler Restaurant. The Waikiki ARC recently received their charter of affiliation from ARRL. Congratulations! After breakfast several people go the BMARC, KH6BB to operate. Join their breakfast meeting at 07:00 HST for "eye-ball" QSO's and lots of radio talk. Visiting ham's welcome at the Mighty Mo. Every Friday 11:30AM - BIARC informal lunch. - They now to to the Hokulani Steakhouse in Keaau.

The West Honolulu Amateur Radio Group is not an ARRL affiliated group. It is a Hawaiian style informal group. It has been meeting every first Thursday on even Months at 7:30PM at night. FOR THE year 2009 IT WILL MEET ON THE FIRST WEDNESDAY. The next meeting will be February 4. WHARC meets at Diner's in the Waimalo Shopping Center Thanks to George, AH7GK & Herb, KH7TK for the update.

Second Monday 7PM was the last reported meeting time for the American Samoa Amateur Radio Association (ASARA) in Pago Pago. There has been no activity reported in several years and the web site has been removed. Does anyone know about activity or contacts in American Samoa?

Kohala Hamakua Radio Club meets Every EVEN month on the Second Wednesday 7PM (1900W) at the Carter Professional Center in Waimea (Kamuela). They meet on the second Sunday at 2PM (1400W) in ODD months in Hawi at the Kohala Community Center.

A recent update from a Molokai Ham said the club is not longer meeting. Let's hope they can reactivate. Their website also appears to be out of date.
There seems to be two other clubs in the Mariana Islands. They are the Mariana Island DX Association (MIDXA) and the Amateur Radio Club of Saipan. MIDXA does have a website at http://www.guam.net/pub/midxa/ which gives some information.

Pacific Section as it could be, I have asked to be informed of nets, scheduled
contacts, or regular chats that exist in the Pacific. Thanks to many

radio, please check in on any of these nets to pass your emergency traffic.
Don't wait for an emergency, but try checking in and testing conditions.

Richard Darling, AH7G, receiving the Tiki Award from Harry Nishiyama, KH6FKG. Harry passed away January 30th. He was an ARRL DXCC card checker. Your SM has nominated Richard to replace him. The other DXCC checker in Hawaii is John Peters, K1ER
On 23 Jan 2009 Oahu Hams said Aloha to the departing FCC personnel after successfully completing the television analog to digital conversion in the Hawaiian Islands on Jan 15. Prior to and during the conversion Hams helped the FCC explain the operation of converter boxes and other equipment like antennas. Similar services were done by Amateurs Radio operators on Oahu, Maui, Hawaii and Kauai.
The state of Hawaii changed over on January 15th without a hitch.
