Saturday October 3
Last year's Simulated Emergency Test (SET) was Saturday October 18, 2008. This years SET was Saturday October 3 from 9AM to Noon. It was simulating the aftermath of a Hurricane that had just passed over the state. Messages were in both ARRL and ICS 213 format. The RACES repeater network (147.02/04/06+) and 7088KHz were the primary frequencies however the island of Hawaii had a lot of traffic on the BIWARN system. Preliminary report were that it was a good test.
This morning, Saturday, a group of Hams had breakfast at the 50's restaurant on the Island of Hawaii.
This year's Pacificon 2009 was moved from October 17 in California to May 1, 2 and 3 at Circus Circus in Reno, NV. Your SM and ASM were there. We now have reliable information that Pacificon 2010 will be the third weekend in October in California and next years EMCOM has moved to another Hotel in Reno with the date the first weekend in May 2010.

NETS: Since the National Traffic System is not as strong in the
Pacific Section as it could be, I have asked to be informed of nets, scheduled
contacts, or regular chats that exist in the Pacific. Thanks to many
operators for sending in their information. Below is a listing of the
nets. If you have an emergency and the only way to request help is by
radio, please check in on any of these nets to pass your emergency traffic.
Don't wait for an emergency, but try checking in and testing conditions.
Also, get to know the great folks on these nets. Please let me know of
corrections and of any more nets, skeds, chats, etc. Kevin
