KD5WRO, Franklin Stewart, reports that the Milam County ARES Net meets each Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. on the 147.020 Repeater. If you have any questions call KD5WRO. Franklin is reporting that several radio operators are participating from areas in Milam County and also in our surrounding counties of Bell, Burleson, Falls, and Robertson. So please take a few minutes @ 7 pm on Thursday evening to check in. This is a great way to practice using your radio equipment and meet fellow radio operators.
Franklin also tells us that they are now training members on how to conduct the net as a Net Control Operator. A couple of weeks ago Susan, KE5LVI conducted the net and did a GREAT job. Frank says he has a script for those interested in being a Net Control Operator, and will be happy to give you a copy; or you can pick one up at the Homeland Security Office. Just let him know.
Also, Franklin want us to know that they need more members to be mobile, either vehicle mobile and/or a handheld unit. So, let Franklin know what your capabilities are and your willingness to participate.
N5NTG, Lee Besing, reports on the GREAT participation, in San Antonio, with "The Alamo Ride to the River."

Congratulations to our Amateur Radio Brothers and Sisters in San Antonio and surrounding counties for a job well done. Keep up the good work.
Lou Everett, Sr., WA5LOU, wants to remind everyone about our HF Nets. The Texas Traffic Net meets each night at 1830 hours Central time on 3.873. Lou invites all to come and check in. You do not need to have traffic or handle traffic to check in. Get to meet all the fine Hams supporting this net.
Also, Lou would like to invite all to the TX ARES Net, every Monday evening at 1930 hours Central Time, on 3.873, immediately following the Texas Traffic Net. This is a good place to discuss what has been going on in your ARRL Section ARES, and/or district. So, come by and check in with us there. You do not have to be an ARES Member to participate.
KD5KTX, Joe Gadus Appointed Public Information Coordinator: I am honored and pleased to announce the appointment of Joe Gadus, KD5KTX as the new Public Information Coordinator for the STX Section. Joe has done an outstanding job as both a PIO and as an Assistant PIC. He was one of three PIOs recognized at Hamcom this year with the new PIO Excellence Award. Joe was awarded this national honor for his excellent PIO work during Hurricane IKE.
I consider having an active Public Information program and good PIOs an essential part of any ARRL ARES, and ARRL Section operation. If you do not currently have a PIO assigned, please consider it a priority on your to do list.
I know Joe will continue his record of excellent work as the Sections lead Public Information Officer. Please join me in congratulating him on the appointment and thanking him for taking on these duties.

"Blurbs" for this Monthly News: Thanks to those who submitted "blurbs" for this month's issue. It is really appreciated. However, Lou Everett, Sr., WA5LOU, asks that you please get your "blurbs" (10-15 lines) to him NOL than the 15th of the month. Lou needs time to get it all together and submitted, for publication, by the 18th of each month. Send your blurbs to: loueverettsr@yahoo.com This way we can let the Section know all the GREAT things you all are doing.
That's it: That's all for this month, Folks. Happy Halloween! Next month we will be looking at Thanksgiving. WOW, how time flies.
