The GARC legacy and memories remain though. Hamfests at the Goodyear Wingfoot Lake Park, the Hamstrings, which was a band troupe of 20+ members that visited hospitals and nursing homes to bring them joy, and one of the first 2M repeaters, w/ autopatch, in the local Akron Area are all keypoints in the history of the club. Last not but least, there were many #1 OSPOTA catergories secured by WA8UXP rovers and several awards that will NEVER be beaten! Another thing that will live on is that the WA8UXP 2M repeater frequency 146.985 MHz has been passed to the N8DXE club which for sure has the backing to keep it alive with new and upcoming technologies as they become available. Yes! GARC had a great run.
