Success through Teamwork
The Santa Barbara Section is off to a new start in 2016. With a new Section Manager and the goal of making Amateur Radio more FUN for everyone, the Section is being re-vitalized. Existing strong public service teams will be supported and given an opportunity to grow. Clubs, events, contests, and other activities will be promoted through an increased emphasis on communications between members. Public communictions will be enhanced promoting Amateur Radio accomplishments to the general public. The involvement of every Amateur in the Section is desired and will be welcomed.
All existing Section appointments are being retained as we start a new year and an assessment is being performed to evaluate any necessary changes. The Section Website has been moved to:
A social media presence (@ARRLSB and #ARRLSB) is being developed on Facebook and Twitter to insure we are communicating with the younger generarions that might be interested in Amateur Radio.
The Santa Barbara Section eMail Reflector will play a big part in the effort to improve communications within the Section. All Amateurs in the Section are encouraged to subscribe to this service.
The Santa Barbara Section consists of the California coastal counties of San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura. It is part of the Southwestern Division and is bounded by the Santa Clara Section to the North, the San Joaquin Valley Section to the East, and the Los Angeles Section to the South. There are approximately 1100 ARRL Members in the Section but we are actively working on growing that number.
Section Manager (SM), James T Fortney, K6IYK, is eager to hear from individuals interested in participating in the re-vitalization of the Section.
