2005 ARRL Straight Key Night

01/08/2005 | W3DCG Had fun. Stayed QRP most of the time. Meant to get a key plug for my transceiver. Meant to acquire a skirted Navy knob for my little SpeedX key sometime last year. Neither ever happened. Finally alligator clipped my straight key from RCA Phono plug cable already connected, to the bared key plug with my paddle in parallel. Worked fine.

Noted excellent fists: KC2EQA and my final SKN QSO, W3MT.

However, BEST FIST heard, would have to go to W9ZN, Bill, who regularly (probably every day), uses a straight key if it's 20wpm or less, as part of his daily operating routines. You can tell when he's using his left hand, but- barely, and you have to listen carefully!

Looking forward to next year, and I'd be surprised it I had a proper plug for my key then, too, although, I'll be shopping for that skirted Navy knob this year! -- W3DCG
