2005 ARRL Field Day

06/27/2005 | KQ6EE WHO CAN BEAT ME AT 8587 FEET AT THE MOUNTAIN TOP DOING CQ FIELD DAY, CQ FEILD DAY (just kidding). This time, I tried something differently. I hauled my HF equipments to the mountain top, and leave my vhf beam antenna in the car otherwise my backpack would be overload. BUT still heavy.
Radios: Ft-817, Alinco DJ-280 220 HT, ICOM IC-T81A HT
Antenna: HF:Huster moble (strap) antenna,
VHF/UHF: Telescopic HT antenna
MISC: antenna tuner, gel-cell battery, cables
I summit at Thunder Mountain at 11:30 on Saturday. The results were not good. The signal was not very strong, and I could not hear anybody. So I end up work from 6m to 70 cm. That is what the field day all about: be prepared. So I didn't prepare for my equipments (HF). Well, try to make it better next time. Eventhough, HF was not good, but I still had fun to do all other band during field day AND went hiking. LEARN the mistake and IMPROVE. I did qrp all the way. -- KQ6EE
