We listened to the band for a couple of days prior to the contest to establish our game plan. Once we determined conditions would be pretty good, we elected to go low power. We were able to hold a run frequency both on CW and phone for most of the weekend using just an A3 tribander to Europe and a hexbeam pointed to the US. The K3 really stood tall!!

Newer ops on CW would be well served to learn to zero beat. Running stations usually have tight filters in and I know some folks were frustrated because they called outside our passband and had trouble getting us to hear them.

This contest is lots of fun when the conditions cooperate!
