Sep 25-Sep 30, 0001Z-1159Z, K4D, Marietta, GA. Kennehoochee Amateur Radio Club. 14.285 . QSL. Kennehoochee Amateur Radio Club, PO Box 1245, Marietta, GA 30060. Those intrepid hams in the Atlanta area lead by Ricky DeLuco, K4JTT are at it again with the third annual activation of a lighthouse that rarely sees much ham radio activity. This year the team of eight hams will take their equipment, food, and all supplies to operate from Sand Island Lighthouse, Dauphin Island, Alabama, on September 26-30. The team is being formed now. This is the 3rd activation of a lighthouse by the team from Atlanta. The other two were Sapelo Island (SC) and St. George Island (FL). According to Ricky K4JTT, “Our purpose in going is to activate a lighthouse for other hams to contact it, have fun, give other hams a chance to get credit for a new Islands on the Air (IOTA) credit, have fun, test out our skills in setting up portable stations, have fun, and challenge our operating skills. Oh, did I mention it is to have fun?” Sponsors for this year’s activation include Yaesu who will be supply the radios, the anchor sponsor Alpha Delta Antenna's who will provide the antennas and the Kennehoochee Amateur Radio Club, Marietta, Georgia. A special call, K4D, has been assigned by the FCC for this activation. The designators for this lighthouse are ARLHS USA-723 and IOTA NA-213. Updated information can be found on www.w4bti.org
