What's Super-Compact?

Super-Compact, produced by Compact Software (now Ansoft), 201 McLean Blvd, Paterson, NJ 07504, tel 201-881-1200, fax 201-881-8361, provides frequency-domain analysis of RF and microwave circuits operating under small-signal (linear) conditions. Visit Ansoft's home page.

Common applications of the Super-Compact linear frequency-domain circuit simulator include filter design, small-signal narrow band and wide band amplifier design, and low-noise amplifier design. A very useful model element commonly used in filters, which is unique to Super-Compact, is the MCPL (multiple-coupled lines) model. Highly accurate physics-based noise models for active devices are used to ensure accurate noise prediction at all frequencies without requiring noise data at all frequencies.

In addition to analysis, tuning and optimization let users improve the circuit response to meet requirements and provide "what-if" case studies to obtain insight to circuit operation.

Super-Compact's voltage probe function allows users to find the voltage at any circuit node under user-defined excitation conditions without specifying the nodes prior to analysis. Statistical analysis and design centering compute the manufacturing yield and help improve yield while still meeting circuit performance goals. Super-Compact's linear models are unsurpassed in accuracy and have been verified from audio frequencies through millimeter-wave bands. These models are the best models available in the industry today.
