2007 ARRL 160 Meter Contest Rules

General Rules

Object: For Amateurs worldwide to exchange information with W/VE amateurs on the 160-meter band CW only. DX-to-DX QSOs do not count for contest credit.
1. 1.1. Stations located in overseas and non-contiguous U.S. Territories may be worked by DX stations. This includes Alaska KL7, the Caribbean US possessions KP1-KP5, and all of the Pacific Ocean territories KH0-KH9, including Hawaii KH6. These stations can work BOTH domestic stations (US and VE) as well as DX stations around the world. Check your software before the contest to be sure it will accept these QSOs.
Date and Contest Period: Starts 2200 UTC Friday, ends 1600 UTC Sunday (November 30 - December 2, 2007). This is a forty-two hour period with no time limitation.
Entry Categories:
1. 3.1. Single Operator:
2. 3.2. Multi-operator, Single Transmitter (only).
  1. 3.2.1. This includes single operators using packet or spotting assistance.
Contest Exchange:
1. 4.1. W/VE: Signal report and ARRL/RAC Section.
2. 4.2. DX: Signal report. Country name is obvious from the callsign. Send ITU Region if maritime or aeronautical mobile.
Scoring:
1. 5.1. QSO Points:
  1. 5.1.1. Two points for QSOs with amateurs in an ARRL/RAC Section.
  2. 5.1.2. QSOs with amateurs not in ARRL/RAC sections are worth five points.
  3. 5.1.3. DX stations may only work stations in ARRL/RAC sections.
2. 5.2. Multipliers: ARRL/RAC Sections (maximum of 80) and DXCC countries (W/VE participants only).
  1. 5.2.1. Northern Territory (NT) multiplier includes the Northwest (NWT), Yukon (VY1) and Nunavut (VYØ) territories..
3. 5.2. Final Score: Multiply QSO points by multiplier. Example: NUØX works 357 stations, including 13 DX stations, and has a multiplier of 67. His score would be 753 QSO points [(344 x 2) + (13 x 5)] multiplied by 67 for 50,451 points.
Miscellaneous:
1. 6.1. The segment 1.830 to 1.835 should be used for intercontinental QSOs only.
Awards: Certificates will be awarded to the top-scoring QRP, low-power and high-power single-operator stations in each ARRL/RAC Section and DXCC country, and to the top-scoring multioperator stations in each ARRL Division and continent.
Miscellaneous:
1. 8.1. All logs that are generated using a computer must submit an ASCII text file of the log information in the Cabrillo file format. A paper printout in lieu of the electronic log file is not an acceptable substitute. Hand-written paper logs are still acceptable.
2. 8.2. All entries for this contest must be emailed or postmarked by January 2, 2008.
3. 8.3. Email entries only to: 160meter@arrl.org. Electronic submissions require a Cabrillo format summary file (combined summary and log). (See “General Rules” for specific file format).
4. 8.4. Electronic files not in Cabrillo format may be designated as checklogs not eligible for awards.
5. 8.5. The www.b4h.net./cabforms application can be used to create and submit electronic entries in the Cabrillo format.
6. 8.6. Handwritten paper entries should be mailed to 160-Meter Contest, ARRL, 225 Main St, Newington, CT 06111.
7. 8.7. Paper entries must be submitted on current ARRL entry forms or on an acceptable facsimile.
