How to Get Started

Amateur Radio is a vast avocation with something to appeal to just about everyone. As a licensed ham you can talk to people across town or on the other side of the world. Or you can "converse" digitally. Or you can send Morse code. Or you can swap pictures. Or you can even bounce signals off the Moon. Or . . . well, you get the idea!Contact___CantWipeSmileOffMyFace.JPG

Before you can do anything, you need to get an Amateur Radio license from the Federal Communications Commission. Click here to learn more.

Once you have your license, the rest is up to you. What you do next depends on what sort of equipment you intend to use and what type of communication you'd like to try. You'll find a stockpile of helpful advice for your first ham station here.
