2019 School Club Roundup (Winter/Spring)
I enjoyed another SKN. This year I thought I would fire up my novice equipment from 1966-my Heathkit DX40 transmitter and HR20 receiver. Even though I had to manually change the T/R antenna switch it was worth the effort.
The gear was repaired and brought up to operational use a few years ago so everything was ready to go. The DX40 performed well enough to make a few QSO's and received very favoriable signal reports.
I even broke out my SpeedX key from more than 50 years ago and gained an appreciation and respect for a straight key.
