This was my first SKN and it was a fascinating experience. I used an old Western Electric Pole Changer Key 2-A that a non-ham friend gave me. My daughter, Megan, took the accompanying photo of the key in action, during a QSO with N5WLA of Azle, TX, on 80 meters, about 350 miles away from my QTH of Pittsburg, KS (Tnx, Fred, for putting up with my shakey fist!). Band conditions were less than ideal, but I received a 559 report. I was using an Icom 703 at 5 watts into a G5RV. I'd love to know how long it has been since this neat old key was last used to send a message. -- KC0MAX
