07/19/2004 | W4ANK The Trident Amateur Radio Club (TARC) of Charleston, SC, held it's annual Field Day at a new site:

Northwoods Park
North Charleston, SC

This site afforded us the absolute luxury of flush toilets and running water.

TARC operated as a 2A entry with power from generators and a solar charged battery system. 26 Members and Amateur friends participated in this event. We also had exhibits from:

North Charleston Fire Department
2 Fire Engines
Fire Safety / Hurricane Safety Trailer

Charleston County Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)

American Red Cross
The local chapter provides our Club meeting room

Charleston County Emergency Communications Van

We had visits from TV stations Channel 2, WCBD and Channel 5, WCSC which resulted in spots airing on the Saturday, 5PM news programs of each station. We also had multiple radio announcements from WSC AM 760 along with the Community Bulletin Board of Comcast Cable. Additionally, an article ran prior to Field Day with Amateur Radio as a general theme and included a mention of Field Day.

In spite of low public attendance (first time at this site), we are considering our 2004 Field Day to be a resounding success. -- KG4RUL
