08/07/2004 | W7TF A truely outstanding event. The "QRP is US" group, from western Idaho, has been getting together for Field Day for several years and it just keeps getting better. We set up in a nearby national forest camping area and combine amateur radio with a time out in nature. As usual, nature involved an evening thunderstorm, but that just helps to better simulate an emergency activity. This year was our best yet. Adding a triband beam to the antenna collection was a big help. Jim's, W7TF, little solar setup worked great. Also, John, KD7HGS, brought his portable garage and we went from trying to survive to very comfortable.
