2004 ARRL September VHF Contest

09/14/2004 | K3UHF/ Heres a picture of the september 2004 rover. It took an 1100 mile tour of the Pacific Northwest, including the wash board roads to reach Paulina Peak (CN93) @ 8000', hill top nieghborhoods of Bend Or, CN94. The bustling metropolis of Shankino, Or, located near the CN95/94 line. Yakima, Yakima, Yakima, Yakima, (CN96)such a big little town with no vhf+ hams in it. DN06/07 Frenchmen Hills, to be named Freedom hills soon! CN97 Keechelus Ridge (7000') and more washboard roads. CN88/87/98/97 Greater Everett area Square Dance. CN86, rest areas and the hill top above Kalama Wa, @ 1100'. CN85 Portland/Tigard.

Lessons learned, when 2 people tell you you are not getting out on a band and your mfj meter doesnt read any power, everything will be just fine when you get away from the 2 people and you don't need to spend an hour tearing your system apart. Murphy's law?

Had several eyeballs, met several inactive hams ect.. and they were all nice.

Only got the once over once from the Monroe Wa, Police dept.

Antenna Rack is formed from 1 1/4" pvc with 1" pvc and 1" oak dowels pressed inside for rigidness. However it still bends on the cross racks. Top antenna @ 12'.
4 batteries in parallel.

Thanks for all the stations who stayed home and worked me and the other rovers. Thanks to the e-skip god for a brief opening to ND and Canada.
