2004 ARRL September VHF Contest

09/14/2004 | N5AC Although there was no significant E-openings, I had a good time roving around Texas -- prospective ham and son, Ryan, accompanied me and held antennas as we stopped on the side of the road to make contacts. We were active on 6m, 2m, 432, and 1.2. This gave me a chance to try my new 857D in action (what a great rig). With built in transverter features, I'm looking forward to adding 2300, etc. for the next contest.

I was also vertical on 6 and 1.2 which I hope to change for next contest.

Special thanks to WD0ACD for last minute use of his drill to mount the 1.2 vertical and to K5VH for dilligently following us around EL09, EL19, EM00, EM01, EM02, etc.
