09/16/2004 | KQ6EE Spending time camping at Catalina Island in Southern California is my QSO Party day. On Saturday, I didn't any contest because family was coming along. I didn't want to leave them alone and I went to do CQ Contest. Sunday morning, I hiked to the hill above AVALON in Catalina, may be Lone Tree Point ( there is no sign ). And stay there for couple hours, and made some contacts. That was all. I think I contact the other ham in San Diego (DM 12) from my location which is not too bad with my QRP. I did not work 6 meter. I did not bring my mag-mount. There is no metal bench or metal pole or any thing. So I only did 2m, 440, 220, 1.2 ghz this time. But I enjoy camping and doing CQ contest. May be next vhf and uhf contest, I will choose a better location. 73 -- KQ6EE
