09/19/2004 | WD4OAR WD4OAR the Ocoee Amateur Radio Society had a blast during the contest considering the 60MPH winds at night. We decided to operate a little closer to home this year in Tennessee. No enhancement to speak of on any bands, but some nice long groundwave contacts from the mountain worked out well. A special thinks to Joe Riner WD4DES for engineering some old military crank-up masts so that we could rotate the whole mast with the rotor at the base. Bigger antennas were the theme this year which seemed to keep QRM at a minimum. I hope to use this site again in the upcoming contests.
