09/30/2004 | N0JK A strong thunderstorm near Emporia kept me from going to my operating site in
EM18 Saturday afternoon. The radar plot shows it right over my site! Sunday morning had to go to a family reunion with the
XYL. Was able to drive out to the "Cattle Pens" Sunday evening and operate the
last couple of hours of the contest. No Es on 6 Meters, but some tropo trying on
2 Meters. I worked K5QE EM31 at 500 miles on 144 MHz at 0053 utc Sept. 13. Not
bad for 10 watts and a 7 element yagi. -- N0JK
