What do you call it when a dyed-in-the-brass CW op actually uses a microphone? November Sweepstakes! Between CW and Phone, the Sweepstakes are the best Amateur Radio events this side of Field Day.
Phone is not my preferred mode, but on Sunday morning, I joined the fun. A slow and lazy 11 hours later, I had 112 raw Q's and 64 Sections. It was fun, though certainly not a plaque winner.
Speaking of plaque. I still have that nasty yackrophone aftertaste.
Where's the Listerine?
[Just kidding, of course. Thanks to the league for sponsoring both events, and to the stations I worked for not laughing at my low QSO numbers. I think I'll be back next year. How can I resist, when other hams are having so much fun?] -- N8CPA
