Put together an old (and getting older every day) operator, an FT-102 (your rig has TUBES?), and a 25 year old TA-33/40 at 35 feet with 75m inverted v and it makes it a test of will to just keep plugging along through the weekend. I do have to admit it was fun running a frequency like the big boys at times (didn't happen too often). There were a LOT of comments about NC being needed - more than I remember getting before. One of the high points was VY1JA calling during one of those rare runs. Had a nice little conversation with J, him running QRP and letting a couple of other VY1 boys battle it out at the higher power levels. I'll take this opportunity to thank him for all the SS q's in the past. Strangest thing was having 79 sections (and a couple of VY1s) in the log and needing VE7. Of all the provinces, that had always been the easiest to work in the past.
And after 30 years of SS, from 3 different sections, I finally broke the 1000 q barrier. Last year's 975 was close, but WOW! 1000! Thanks to all the guys and ladies in the log. -- KZ2I
