2005 ARRL Straight Key Night

01/05/2005 | JJ1BDX/3 This is my third consecutive year of participating the SKN, and I finally managed to work Ken, K7AO, at around 14Z on 40m band, 2way CW. The chat continued for 17 minutes.

His rig had some QRH and he answered that he used an old rig called Scout when I told him so. It was a modest QRS QSO (about 13WPM I guess), and that was the only QSO I made for SKN this year and it was quite fun, so I vote K7AO as the Best Fist and the above QSO for my Most Interesting QSO. Ken also seemed to work many stations and told me he really enjoyed the SKN and I did too; working North American stations is always exciting from the other side of the Pacific.

BTW my key was GHD GT504, a brand-new (bought in 2002) camel-style key. The transceiver was a good-old IC-706mkIIG(M, 50W version) and the antenna was another good-old 9m-length vertical wire and a bunch of counterpoise wires with ICOM AH-4 tuner.
