01/08/2005 | KD7REM Looks like I'm not the only one who enjoyed my first SKN this year. I had been looking forward to it for months, having started CW in October, then wouldn't you know my HW-101 decided to fail a few days before the event. As if it wasn't enough of a challenge to get it working (at 4 AM on the 31st) then my antenna fell down (oh well my favorite time to work on antennas is in the snow.) Got it all up in the nick of time for an absolutely wonderful experience.

16 longer than 30 min. QSO's and plenty of memories. Tnx to all who put up with this newbie's QSD. The most enjoyable was Jaye KE6SLS (who also mentioned here we chatted on either side of the midnight hour) and I'll have to give my best fist vote to Eric W7NNN on his Viking 1 who kept going through the rain pounding so hard on his roof that he couldn't hear his sidetone.
