2005 ARRL January VHF Sweepstakes

01/24/2005 | K2KJ Lets see, three below on Saturday, howling winds and a frozen rotator all topped off by ferocious QRN, probably due to the snow storm of the century, all in all a good reason to stay inside and play VHF contest. For me, originally had plans to work only low band, but the lack of propogation enhancement, and having other duties calling, that prevented me from working WSJT, (thanks Joe, was nice to work you on six) like plowing and shoveling snow made me change my mind, and glad that I did, a couple of all time new grids on 432 and 222, and one new all time on two, I guess the 1 5/8" hardline does make a difference hi hi! Did not work 900, 1296, or 3 gig, frozen relays and not wanting to work on the tower in 40 mph winds, 0 degrees, and flying snow took care of that.....it will wait until spring!

Did not invest a full tilt effort, (hey the playoffs were on) but certainly did miss the big MM stations, but was nice to catch some new calls, and I hope that everyone liked my new voice keyer (the second harmonic), as someone else said, CW activity seemed up and thanks to all that worked me and I'm looking forward to the sprints, CU all in June......
