2005 ARRL International DX Contest (CW)

06/17/2005 | K6KYJ Finally the Hat Trick in the Sacramento Valley Section: three low power firsts: 1989, 1996 & 2005. The first was courtesy of a rebuilt SB-101 and paper logging. The next two came using my more modern TS-820, which is still in primary service. 1989 was at the peak of a sunspot cycle and the next two came near the bottom of subsequent cycles.

From the beginning, all of my antennas have been low height dipoles or quarterwave antennas on a modest residential lot. (http://www.withmy2hands.org/k6kyj/antennas.htm) A true Wired Lil' Pistol station.

As a contester, I love search and pounce operating. The ARRL DX contest is ideal for that mode and even in poor conditions finding every new mult is like finding gold! Can't wait until next year... -- K6KYJ
