2005 ARRL June VHF Contest
Ops: VA3NFA, VE3XZT, VE3BSM.
Club: Contest Club Ontario, West Carleton Amateur Radio Club
Details: http://ca.geocities.com/tom_zinck2/rover/ve3wcc.htm
We activated FN14,15,16,24,25, 26 and operated on 50, 144, 222, 432, 903 and 1296.
Preliminary results: ~135 QSO's, ~39 multipliers giving about 8500 points (need to enter logs into computer to find out for sure ;-).
We drove over 450 kms (~280 miles) and operated a total of about 16 hours.
It was HOT and HUMID up here in Ottawa, but overall conditions were pretty good. We worked several stations on 5 and 6 bands are were very excited about it! We also worked a number of other Rover stations. Yipee!
We found excellent operating locations in all 6 grids.... details on webpage. Big thunderstorm rolled in Saturday evening so we stopped operating for a bit when our compas started spinning ;-) We heard amazing Aurora propagation Saturday afternoon on 144 and 50, but could not work it.
The masts only fell over once (no damage!) and we survived the brutal heat and horse-flies.
Thanks to all the locals (especially VE3XK, VE3CVG and VA3KA) and DX stations we worked.. it was FUN!!
We have a big "todo" list to improve our station for the fall VHF contests.. so please "Point North" and look for VE3WCC/R in future contests!
Look for more pics and videos on the website in the near future.
