2005 ARRL June VHF Contest

06/25/2005 | KC2NRU This was my very 1st June VHF Contest! I operated at the NQ2O shack in FN13ch and it was a blast! Stayed up the entire contest and tried to make as many Q's as I could. In the Jan. contest I operated at a multi-op station at N2UIO's with N2WVK (my elmer) N2JMH and N2UIO. That was my first contest ever! After that contest I was hooked! I worked my first true AU Sunday on 6,2 and 222. Had 6-1.2 in the contest and that was a major upgrade compared to what I have at home. Ive never worked as many grids as I did in this contest in my entire time as a ham (since december haha) so this year sets a record for me to beat next year. I went into this contest only knowing how to send CQ and my call in CW and came out copying some to almost all the CW I heard Sunday Afternoon and evening. It took me a long time to copy it but I got it! I just want to say thanks to Walt NQ2O for letting me use his shack and to Todd N2WVK for letting me hang out in his radio room when I was younger, if you didnt I would have had no idea what Amateur radio is! Thanks Guys! -- KC2NRU
