06/26/2005 | K7SAM Had a great site on top of a hill in NE Montana. We had put up a three element beam on a 20 foot tower attached to a trailer and a 5 band trap dipole just below it, also had 2 meter capability in the camper. Three of us, Sam (K7SAM), Loren (AA7MT) and Larry (WD4CEB) were having a good time, it did not last long however. Had just got started when we were hit with thunderstorms with 60 mph winds, 2.7 inches of rain in 1 hour and 15 minutes, hail and lightening. Needless to say we abondoned our efforts in order to save the camper and equipment. Will do it again next year and hope for better weather. -- K7SAM
