2005 ARRL Field Day

06/27/2005 | W5NOR Once again the South Canadian Amateur Radio Society (SCARS) arranged for the small pavillion at Reaves Park in Norman, OK as our Field Day 2005 site. I might explain up front that our name comes from the fact the South Canadian River runs on the south side of Norman. We are not in Canada.
This was probably our biggest and best Field Day yet. We had 75 club members and guests come through at some time during the event.
We operated 3A, concentrating on 20, 40 and 80M Phone, CW and PSK31.
5 members of Boy Scout Troop 291 from Moore, OK attended, working on their merit badges. After helping us string up some wire, each was able to make some contacts. It was also a good time for some new hams to get on the air.
The Mayor of Norman, Harold Haralson, attended for the second straigt year, along with City Councilman Richard Stawiki, Gayland Kitch, the Emergency Manager and Communications Director for Moore, OK. and our Oklahoma ARRL Section Manager John Thomason.
We ended up with over 1000 contacts and good bonus points. -- WG5T
