My family spent FD weekend at Hanging Rock State Park in North Carolina. We had a wonderful time hiking trails, "discovering" waterfalls, chowing on camp food, and celebrating my youngest son's 6th birthday! In the midst of all this, I managed to operate (mobile) for approximately 5 hours. While it took some work, I actually generated a few small runs and kept the rate at a reasonable level most of the time I was on. My mobile station consists of a Icom 706MKII, Outbacker OB8,75M Ham stick, and I used a laptop to log. All in all..things went pretty smoothly. In the 5 hours, I worked 255 stations with 40m being my most productive band (primarily due to being on around midnight).
FD is always a fun event and this year was extra fun!
