Field Day for the Connecticut Amateur Radio League of Youth (C.A.R.L.Y) started out on Saturday morning with set-up. The club members worked diligently to set-up its G5RV antenna (with a little help from the adults!). After breaking one wrist slingshot and striking out with its brand new replacement, the club resorted to taping a fishing line to a baseball which was thrown over the most-reachable branch. After several attempts the lines were finally in place and the antenna was hoisted up into position.
The Connecticut Amateur Radio League of Youth (C.A.R.L.Y) participated in Field Day 2005. After adding four new licensed members only three days before the big event, there were plenty of young hams available to help out at the controls. The C.A.R.L.Y club consists of 11 youth ages 13 and under, 9 of which are licensed. -- N1LGB
