07/04/2005 | WX8J What a difference a little time makes! My first involvement with F.D. was in 1976 at the Novice station of W3LIF. Using my call sign (WB3BAK) we logged just over 100 contacts using a Heathkit HW 101,Vibroplex key and an old Honda generator.. FD 2005 was QRP with a homebuilt Elecraft K2, Bencher paddles and solar - battery power. Seventeen hours of operation concluded with 325 QSO's on mostly 20 and 40 meters. Given temperatures in the 90's ... F.D. 2005 in Ohio was HOT! Unlike in 1976, I now have a pool to jump into to cool off!!! -- WX8J
