2006 ARRL November Sweepstakes (Phone)

11/19/2007 | WA4JM This was my first SS. Since I helped give a presentaion at our local ham meeting about the merits of contesting, I figured I'd better get with it. To make it really harder I decided to run QRP using my Ten-Tec Argo V at 5 watts. I know some of you out there say QRP is 10 watts with SSB, but the rules say 5 watts so I went with it. Now keep in mind the antenna is a flat-top dipole fed with 300 ohm window line at 25 feet!

Here's how I did:
Only 44 QSO's, but I worked 35 sections and of those 35 sections, 29 were states, and all this on 5 watts!!!! (Yes I'm sending out QSL's)

The bands were 40, 20 and 15 meters.

Some of the contacts were suprisingly easy as I looked for the strongest stations. Some were very difficult as I was "hard copy" for many.

In conclusion, I had a great time and I'm looking foward to the next contest, Also, thanks to those who had patience enough to help me make contacts with such low power.

I think I'll work on the antenna. LOL!!
