06/24/2007 | K4VRC K4VRC, The Villages Amateur Radio Club and the Sumter ARES did a joint Field Day and had use of the Sumter County, Florida Mobile Operations Center which includes 2 amateur operating positions when it is used in emergency operation. We had full use of the MOC for the 2007 Field Day. Normally there are other antennae on the crank up tower for the various services, but for Field Day, the A3S was up about 35 feet. Sometimes I wonder if we should be Class F instead of 2A with all of the comforts! The unit which includes a 20 KW generator can operate for a week with out being serviced. The temperature was close to 100 outside, but a nice 75 inside. -- W3GQJ
