2007 ARRL Field Day

07/01/2007 | K5R The Palestine/Anderson County ARC participated in Field Day '07 at the Palestine Depot of the Texas State Railroad as K5R. Although conditions didn't allow for too many contacts, we still did well as two alpha North Texas. Operating in a public park operated by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department allowed us to demonstrate amateur radio to a lot of folks as well as tell them about the services offered by amateur radio. We also had several newly licensed hams there who now eagerly want to upgrade to General. One young girl told her father she wanted to hurry up and get her Technician license as well. This was our third year at the TSRR and it would not have been possible without the hospitality and support of the Superintendent, Robert Crossman KC5ATX. The weather cooperated too so it wasn't as hot as you would expect in East Texas this time of year. The food was great, the fellowship was fun, and the event was a success! Thank you to everyone in North America for all the contacts! -- KB5YUE
