2007 ARRL Field Day

07/03/2007 | N2JFS Halifax Emergency Communication Krew (HECK) put up their Central Halifax Amateur Operated System (CHAOS) as usual without any fanfares. We will, of course make it better next year. For a change we were two operators this year. The weather blessed us and XYL was generous with the supplies, but that she is every year. (Sorry all you that didn't show up. The cookies were just fantastic and the rest ... . And don't blame me, I did invite.)

We tested a loop antenna this year and found that superior to the LW. N2JFS had manufactured a bunch of antenna tuners this year and they all tested positive. Believe we have a fixed design there now. A few 80 feet tall trees served as antenna supports and that in combination with some 30 feet Swedish army radio antenna surplus made the day.

Too much socializing and too little attention of the radio resulted in 16 QSO-s. Well, not that bad, we are talking about Halifax Emergency Communication Krew. Hear you all next year.

Hans -- N2JFS
