The Cochise Amateur Radio Association (CARA) members had another great Amateur Radio Field Day event at Green Acres on June 23rd and 24th. In addition to having fun making contacts and enjoying a cookout, we tested our emergency operating skills by operating on emergency power for 8 hours on Saturday, and also operated one rig on solar power on Sunday. We had a visit from Mr. Mike Evans (Cochise County Director of Emergency Services) and Mr. Pat Call (Cochise County Board of Supervisors) on Sunday and they were quite impressed with our activity. Several members of the public visited to find out what Amateur Radio is all about and tour the Green Acres facility and Mobile Command Unit (MCU). Club members participating included CW King WB6OTS, PSK-31 King KC7GNM, KB4ALE, KK7NO, K7AIM, NJ7C, KE7HFA, K7AIM, KC7LBZ, KE7JNB, KB9MNA, N7INK, KD7YOY, KD7YOZ, KD7OED, KC8TUG, KF6BMV and K7DTB. As usual, we were backed up by a great support team that included N7SFP, W8UXD, KB7ND, AD7HZ, and KB7RDG. -- KC7GNM
